Turns Out, You Don’t Need to Have It All Figured Out
By Lexi · 2026-09-07
There is a strange pressure that comes with starting something new.
Before you take the first step, you’re supposed to know where you’re going, what your plan is, how it will make money, what people will think, and whether it will still make sense six months from now.
Apparently, you also need a color palette, a five-year strategy, perfect lighting, and the emotional stability of someone who has never had to search the entire house for a phone that was already in her hand.
I do not have all of that.
What I do have is a willingness to begin anyway.
For a long time, I thought starting over was supposed to feel dramatic. I pictured a clear ending, a deep breath, and then one brave step into a completely new life. Something cinematic. Something with inspirational background music and just enough wind to make my hair look intentional.
Real life is not nearly that organized.
Sometimes starting over happens while you’re still carrying pieces of the life you’re leaving. You can be excited about what is ahead and still grieve what is behind you. You can know that something needs to change without knowing exactly what that change is supposed to look like.
You can be brave and scared at the same time.
That does not mean you are confused. It means you are human.
Lexi Off Script was not born from having everything figured out. It came from realizing that I was tired of waiting until I did.
I wanted a place where I could talk about real life without forcing every thought into a perfectly edited video. A place for longer conversations, unexpected turns, things I love, things I’m learning, and the occasional story that begins with, “You are not going to believe this.”
Because life rarely follows the version we carefully rehearse in our heads.
Plans change. People change. Dreams change. Sometimes the person we thought we were going to be no longer fits the life we are building.
That can feel terrifying, but it can also be freeing.
There is something powerful about admitting that you do not know exactly what comes next. It creates room for possibilities you could not see when you were trying to control every detail.
Maybe the goal is not to create a flawless new identity overnight.
Maybe the goal is simply to become more honest about who you are now.
I am a mom, an author, a creator, and a Texas woman who has lived through more than one chapter that did not end the way I expected. I have spent plenty of time trying to be strong, responsible, prepared, and composed.
Those qualities still matter to me. But I am also learning that strength does not always look polished.
Sometimes strength looks like trying something before you feel ready.
Sometimes it is posting the video even though it is not perfect.
Sometimes it is changing direction after you already told everyone where you were going.
Sometimes it is laughing because the alternative is screaming into a decorative pillow.
And sometimes it is quietly deciding that your life belongs to you again.
That is the energy I want to bring into this space.
Not perfection. Not another carefully manufactured corner of the internet where everyone appears to wake up in a spotless home with flawless skin, endless motivation, and children who have never asked a question from the other side of the bathroom door.
I want honesty.
I want conversations about the messy middle—the part after you decide to change but before the new life feels familiar.
I want to talk about good products, terrible ideas, motherhood, creativity, rebuilding, relationships, unexpected opportunities, and the little things that make ordinary life easier or funnier.
I also want to hear from people who are figuring things out as they go.
That is why this website has an anonymous inbox. Some stories are difficult to say out loud when your name is attached to them. Sometimes people just need somewhere to place the thought that has been sitting heavily on their chest.
You do not have to arrive here with a lesson, a neat conclusion, or a motivational quote.
You can simply say, “This is where I am.”
There is value in that.
The internet constantly tells us to become the finished version of ourselves. Build the brand. Find the niche. Master the routine. Monetize the journey. Make everything look intentional.
But some of the most meaningful parts of life are still under construction.
I am under construction.
This website is under construction.
Maybe you are, too.
That does not make any of us unfinished in a negative way. It means there is still room to grow, change our minds, learn something new, and create a life that fits better than the one we originally planned.
So this is me beginning before every detail is perfect.
This is me making room for a different kind of chapter.
This is Lexi Off Script: less polished, more honest, and probably fueled by caffeine and an unreasonable number of open browser tabs.
I may not have everything figured out yet.
But I have started.
For now, that is enough.
